Altera Finance operates on a foundation of liquidity pools, each facilitating the exchange of a token pair. Within these pools, liquidity providers can contribute tokens, while traders execute swaps between these tokens.

The protocol operates on a constant product formula, ensuring that the product of token quantities in a pool remains consistent pre and post-swap. The extent of price slippage during a swap is determined by the ratio and quantity of tokens within the pool.
